Other Client List Update!

Screen Shot 2014-02-06 at 11.38.45 PMI’ve mentioned many ‘a time that I wrote, produced, and starred in a web series called the Other Client List.

Well… I did. And it’s been filmed. And for those of you who were sweet enough to donate to the project, I just wanted to give you an update that it’s still very much alive and kickin’. We’re watching the episodes as they’re being edited by our fantabulous editor Glen Montgomery. He’s doing an amazing job. They’re hilarious and I’m so impressed and excited. We watch, give some feedback and notes, and Glen goes back in and makes his magic.

I’m hoping we have a day we can do a big premiere for all of these episodes in the next couple months. We’ll probably take our time rolling them out online, but they should be up and ready- hopefully- by the end of the year. As I know more, I’ll post it to our website.

Also, as I have more time, I’ll improve the website.

So that is the update! I am very excited! You should be too! Hooray!

Making Dreams Come True

I don’t have a fairy godmother. Because I don’t need one. I’m lucky enough to have amazing people around me who can make magic.

I’ve mentioned a few times I’m currently producing a web series called The Other Client List. This basically came out of the fact that my friend Arye and I had kept in touch from our Groundlings Basic class for several months. One day, we’re sitting at a lunch and mention we should just produce our own work. We should do a web series.

And from that, an exciting partnership and adventure was born.

I spent a couple months writing it. I’d never written screenplay scripts before. I’d always done sketch which is much more lackadaisical in formatting. And easy to fix as you rehearse. But screenplays follow a distinct format because they’re the foundation upon which so many other creative brains are going to build. So I did my best. It’s not perfect… but it’s close. And I certainly learned while doing it. And after a couple months, we had 10 scripts.

Then we were lucky enough to find a creative, focused, hard-working, and hilarious director/DP, Erik Boccio. Who has a great team of people who can help it all become real. We asked for money from friends and family, raised over $4,000 and are currently in the process of filming it every time we can get everyone together.

It’s wonderful. And magical. And I’m learning so so so much. Because this is what I want to do. And the best way to learn how to do it- how to really do it- is just by going for it.

So many extremely talented friends of mine are joining in for roles in the process. And Arye and I are turning out to be quite the complementary team.

And it’s fun. God it’s fun. Did I mention it’s fun? We’re all working our butts off and spending money and time we don’t have… but it is so much friggin’ fun.

And it’s good. It’s going to be so funny. It’s absolutely invigorating to get to see the words I pulled out of nowhere and gave to characters that I made up in my head actually come to life and tell a cohesive (and hilarious) story.

It’s magic. And I’m loving it.

And I’m so grateful to every person who’s helped make it a reality so far. I know it’ll be successful. It’s going to be such a good product- I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t be.

Yummy in my Tummy

I’ve been a little busy. I like to stay busy, as many of you know. But the past couple weeks have been exceptionally busy. The little free time I typically get to get myself in order is being spent coordinating and producing (and filming!) my upcoming web series The Other Client List (which, by the way, is super fun and going to be really really funny so you should totally check it out…)

Now, more than every, it’s extremely important I watch what nutrition I put in my body. Mostly because, I don’t have all the time I usually have to workout. I shoot for about 5 days per week at the gym…but lately I’m lucky if I can squeeze in 3.

I’m ok with it. I’m trying to give myself a break. I know that it’s only temporary while I focus really hard on my series. I know sometimes these things come up and there’s only so many hours in the day. I also know and respect the value of sleep- so I’m not willing to give it up too much. So on the weekends where I only sleep about 6 hours in 2 days… I’m going to sleep in the next day and let myself rest. Which will probably mean I’m not going to the gym. And that’s ok.

We focus a lot on going to the gym as the main way to get and stay healthy. And while it’s a huge part of the equation, nutrition is just as (and maybe even more) important. I’ve worked out for years, but I don’t see big results in my body unless I’m also careful about my nutrition.

And because I’ve been really careful about it the past few weeks, I’m starting to see some results. So I want to keep seeing more results. But I have to do it (right now) without the added benefit of an hour or more at the gym every day because I simply don’t have the time. So I’ve been focusing even more on my nutrition. I’ve been watching calories and controlling portions. Because I want to continue to see results. And because I know that I can only do so much.

So I’ll keep watching what I eat when I can. And knowing that sometimes you just have to chill out and recognize that you can’t do it all.

And now here’s a shot of me stuffing my face with Cookie Crisps for a scene. This shot alone was probably more calories than I have for breakfast and lunch on a good nutrition day. And I could feel the sugar in my esophagus for the next six hours.

Bianca cereal

Totally worth it.

The Other Client List

As I’ve mentioned on here once or twice, I wrote and am currently co-producing a web series called The Other Client List (you can check us out on Facebook here!)

I’m really excited and proud of this project. We just launched our Indiegogo campaign to try and raise enough funds for the whole 10-episode series. It’s going to be so good. My production partner and co-star is amazing. Our director is incredible. It’s going to be an awesome production and I will make it a reality- come hell or highwater. Let’s hope those don’t come, because it’d be easier to produce in normal external conditions…

I’ve been trying to get the word out. So I wrote an article about the series. The first of many varied articles, vlogs, etc, we’ll be using to help spread the word.

Here’s the article. I hope you enjoy. And I hope you take time to check out and donate to our fundraising page by clicking here.

Taking Hollywood By the Balls

One of the numerous stereotypes of women is that we’re the more “passive” sex. We’re more patient and able to handle whatever the world may give us. We don’t ask for raises, we just accept our pay without question. We let men be the aggressive hunters while we primp ourselves as beautiful prey. And we let men be the funny storytellers while we’re the open and receptive audience.

Sure, these are stereotypes. But they’re stereotypes based in truth. Truth about gender norms and expectations that still ring true in our society.

There are two young women in Hollywood, however, who refuse to fall into any stereotypes. Arye Rapini is a blonde Brazilian dramatic actress who not only nails comedic roles, but also works full-time as a financial advisor. Briana Hansen is a quirky-girl-next-door midwestern comedic actress who not only enjoys constantly creating imaginary people and conversations, but also works full-time as a paralegal.

And “passive” wouldn’t be used in a million years to describe either of these women. Not only do they both workout regularly and maintain strict diet regimens, they spend most of their non-working time on creative pursuits. Any given night of the week or weekend, you can find them out hustling in Hollywood, trying to prove to the gatekeepers that they’re worth letting in the club.

But Arye and Briana got tired of waiting for Hollywood to come to them with the perfect opportunity. So they decided to create their own and pave their own way up the nebulous entertainment ladder. And they did what any two busy working actresses with full-time day jobs would do. They created their own web series.

The Other Client List is a 10-episode web series that is made for the modern viewer. Each episode follows a separate character arc, just like the popular latest season of Arrested Development. Each episode is written for internet content with the quick cutaway joke style that Family Guy made so popular. And they’re modeled after the style of series Netflix has made mainstream. People can watch each episode by itself and be satisfied, but they’re compelled to watch the whole series all at once because each episode ends right at the next one’s beginning.

Plus, there’s even some parts for animals. The internet loves animals!

Not to mention, they’re funny. Both the episodes and the actors involved. Like… really funny. Really. They’re funny. For real.

So next time you’re annoyed with all the stereotypes you see in Hollywood of women, be more like these two aggressive women. Remember, the less energy you use aggregating all the proof of existing stereotypes in popular media, the more energy you save for creating your own projects that shatter them.

Webseries

I’ve mentioned it before, but I wrote this webseries called The Other Client List. I’m currently working on producing it with my awesome production partner Arye Rapini.

I’m really excited about the project because it’s a combination of so many things I love: Projects, collaboration, comedy, jokes, silliness, writing, acting, Arye… and FITNESS!

The storyline follows two women who are opening their own fitness studio. Both Arye and I workout daily so when I was thinking up ideas for our series, I thought… well, that’s something that we have in common (that’s more interesting than just ACTING which is what every friggin webseries focuses on anymore…)

Anyway, we’re going to have some fitness elements involved any many of the episodes (obviously). So before we start producing I’m going to work out even harder. Because the creativity is inspiring the fitness and visa versa.

It’s a perfect little symbiosis! HURRAY!
